Amazon Picks Up ‘Hand Of God’ & ‘Red Oaks’ To Series, Orders More Scripts Of ‘The Cosmopolitans’

Sad news, Selma Blair fans, REALLY did not get picked up for series on Amazon.
Hand of God

Amazon has given official series orders to drama Hand Of God, written by Ben Watkins and directed by Marc Forster, and Steven Soderbergh’s coming-of-age comedy Red Oaks. Additionally, the company is keeping Whit Stillman’s comedy The Cosmopolitans in contention with an order of additional scripts. The three were part of a Amazon’s third pilot season, with five pilots made available on August 28. Feedback from viewers again played a factor in Amazon’s pickup decisions, which the studio started making earlier this week. The remaining two pilots from Season 2, Hysteria and Really, are not going forward. The second pilot season resulted in six series, Transparent, which just premiered, Mozart In The Jungle, Bosch and The After. Here are details about Hand of God and Red Oaks.

Amazon Pilot Season 2014

Amazon Studios Comedy Pilot REALLY Starring Selma Blair Premieres Aug. 28

Selma Blair Amazon Stuidos REALLY

For one month, Amazon customers will be able to watch, rate and comment on all of Amazon’s new pilots – ultimately helping Amazon decide which of their new comedy and drama pilots get the greenlight.

You can help choose which of these stories should get “picked up” to become shows. As part of Amazon’s unique development process, Amazon Studios relies on feedback from viewers, which helps determine the shows that become an Amazon Original Series. In April, Amazon customers posted tens of thousands of comments during the second pilot season, which helped green light six soon-to-launch series, including Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle.

REALLY

Written, directed and starring Jay Chandrasekhar, Really is a funny, extremely, honest behind-the-curtain look at the complexities of marriage and the charged dynamics of a tight-knit group of friends. The show is about four hard-charging suburban Chicago couples trying to grasp on-to their dwindling youth. At the center are the happily but messily married couple “Jed,” played by Chandrasekhar, and “Lori,” played by Sarah Chalke. When Jed is faced with the choice of keeping his pal’s secret or destroying his friend group, he winds up digging himself into a very deep hole. Really explores marriage, friendship and the stifling peculiarities of suburban Chicago life. The pilot also stars Selma Blair, Travis Schuldt, Hayes MacArthur, Collette Wolfe, Luka Jones, Lindsay Sloane and Rob Delaney. Really comes from Main Street Films’ Craig Chang and Harrison Kordestani, and Executive Producer Jamie Tarses (Happy Endings).
