The American Crime Story actress is “On the Run”
The highly anticipated Ryan Murphy-produced television series American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson airs tonight on FX Network. The show depicts the retired football player’s 1995 criminal trial in which O.J. is defended by Kris Jenner’s late ex-husband, Robert Kardashian. Actress Selma Blair was cast as a young Kris Jenner alongside actors David Schwimmer, Jon Travolta, and Cuba Gooding Jr. as OJ; the trailer shows her dressed in funeral black whispering, “do you think he did it?” Blair is also part of an all-star cast for our upcoming issue of CR Fashion Book which is why, in lieu of tonight’s premiere, we’re letting go of this sneak peek at our fashion editorial titled “On the Run” featuring the actress as an L.A. It-girl who is photographed by the paparazzi at every turn.
Blair opened up to us about playing Jenner, who had not only been married to the defense, but was a close friend of the murder victim Nicole Brown Simpson. “She was much cuter than I ever was,” says Blair during an interview at L.A.’s Chateau Marmont. “I’m fine, I’m interesting-looking and perfectly happy with with God gave me, but Kris Jenner was truly adorable. It’s funny because when I’m next to her now, she looks so much younger than me. It’s not even a joke. I can’t be next to her. I look like I’m playing her mother. It’s such a different world. She is garage-kept. I am not! I”ve been out and about without the maintenance and it shows. That’s the takeaway! Damn, Kris Jenner looks so much better than me!” You can form your own opinions, but our story with Blair (who requires no retouching) is proof that she may be a bit too hard on herself. “I instantly really liked her [Kris Jenner]. We do text and I’d like to see her more, but I think she’s someone who will actually be in my life.” The look-alikes have since shared a cute red carpet moment or two.
Don’t forget to tune into FX tonight at 8 PM—and check back in with us for Selma’s full feature in CR 8, which will arrive at newsstands on February 26th.
