‘Anger Management’ Gets 90 More Episodes

Anger Management Renewed 90 Episodes!

Charlie Sheen has done it again. FX has ordered 90 more episodes of “Anger Management,” the Hollywood bad-boy’s comeback vehicle, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The comedy’s production will resume in September, with new episodes slated to premiere in January.

The contract between “Anger Management’s” production company Lionsgate and FX stipulated that if the first ten episodes of the show hit a certain ratings threshold, an additional 90-episode order would be triggered.

“Anger Management” premiered to strong ratings, breaking FX records by attracting 5.5 million viewers in its first half-hour episode. Although the ratings dipped after that, they stayed strong enough for the network to bring the show back.

The pickup also means that Charlie’s real-life father Martin Sheen will be joining the show as a series regular, playing his character Charlie Goodson’s dad. The addition of the elder Sheen “will give an extra dimension and make it a multi-generational family show,” FX boss John Landgraf said when he announced that news at the 2012 Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.

Sheen himself seemed thrilled at the prospect of coming back for 90 more episodes at the TCAs in July. “I’m excited as hell, I don’t think 90 is gonna be enough. I feel, with how we started, that we just scratched the surface barely. We’ve broken 89 stories.”
